Term 2 of 2011 saw the enrolment of 2 mentees for EL Project Distinction for the first (and sadly last (in a large part because of the proposed change in syllabus)) time ever with an aim to clinch a distinction in English Language under this package specially tailored for them.
An exam-orientated approach was taken in the conduct of the English tuition. This included the need to acquaint the mentees with the format of the comprehension passage(s) in Paper 2. Sound guidelines had been given as to the desired, and often strategic, way to handling the paper, bearing in mind certain identified factors discussed with the mentees. The preparation for the essential writing skills in Paper 1 involved writing assignments in selected essay questions as homework.
The actual 'O' level results have been encouraging with one mentee scoring an A2 grade while the other a B3 grade.
